The Xia dynasty is the first dynasty in traditional Chinese historiography. According to tradition, the Xia dynasty was established by the legendary Yu the Great, after Shun, the last of the Five Emperors, gave the throne to him.
Achievements:
The Xia dynasty was the first to irrigate, produce cast bronze and a durable army. They used oracle bones and had a calendar. Xi Zhong is credited in legend with inventing a wheeled vehicle.
Innovations:
Silk production and weaving also took place during the Xia dynasty as well as drilling and carving technology. But the most recognized innovation during this period was the creation of the calendar based on two different patterns, the use of jade, bronze vessels, and bronze casting also became popular at this era.
Decline:
Xia ended under the reign of Jie, a very notorious tyrannical emperor in Chinese history.All of his actions enraged the people so much that at last they rose up under the leadership of Tang (the chief of the Shang tribe and latter set up Shang Dynasty (17th - 11th century BC) and overthrew Xia
